Terry Pack…….The Enid. I was re-enlisted as a session player for a couple of years during the the mid-1980s. This was taken outside The Lodge Studio when it was in Clare, Suffolk. The line up was Robert John Godfrey, Steve Stewart, Dave Storey and myself.

A couple more The Enid photos, I think these are earlier shots.

John Storer…..Sometime in the late 70s, Lewes Crown Court were hearing a trial in relation to an offence that took place in Scalliwags. It was decided that the jury should attend the scene of the alleged crime to view the place. They were accompanied by the Judge and the prosecution and defence legal teams. Before the visit, court officials insisted that all signs and notices that displayed the “Sober Judge” name and / or logo were to be covered up prior to the visit for fear of offending m’lord

Shirley Collins – The Ballad Of – Kickstarter project

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shirleycollins/the-ballad-of-shirley-collins

Thanks to Hastings and Area, Past & Present for finding this.

Shirley Collins is a famous daughter of  Hastings. Shirley and her late sister Dolly were a huge influence on the folk revival of the 1960s and 1970s. This short video launches a kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make a movie about her. It contains scenes of Hastings Jack in the Green, and scenes of Shirley herself on the West Hill. Now aged 78, there has been a recent increase in interest in Shirley. How appropriare it would be if the people of Hastings are among those helping to fund the making of this movie.

Will Cornell…..Everytime I try to talk to about this legendary lady Shirley Collins, my conversation partner usually says “you mean Judy Collins?” No. Shirley…and she has had SOME story! A documentary is a great idea…but a theatrical film bio would be neat too…Dom Flemons surprised me with the news that my dream is coming true of a QueenLatifahasBessieSmith movie…how about this one? Who’d be perfect in the starring role? If she were 40 years younger, Julie Christie would be my pick (see: “Far From the Madding Crowd”–she could sing!). If you want to explore Shirley’s recordings, my pic to start is “The Harvest Years” with her sister Dolly and the late David Munrow’s Early Music Consort of London. Includes the classic “Anthems in Eden” which sends chills up my back each time I hear it. And by the way, Alan Lomax’s best field recordings absolutely WERE the ones Shirley helped with. ”

Jim Breeds….Glad you shared this off of my HAPP page, I should have thought to send it this way too. A great lady – so interesting to see her in this clip sitting on the West Hill with some green daubed on her nose 🙂 I hope the movie gets funded. She was on stage in Dalston last night. Linda Thompson was there and has been talking about it on her Facebook page.

St Helens Youth Club trip to see Cliff Richard – 1971

John Storer….Does Sarah Harvey remember going to the Royal Albert Hall with St Helen’s Youth Club to see Cliff Richard? It must have been 1971, because I remember us listening to “Under My Wheels” and “Desperado” by Alice Cooper on a cassette player we had on the back of the coach

Sarah Harvey….hey John….I do indeed remember going to see Cliff Richard at The Albert Hall…we spent the day in London doing some shopping and then went to the Albert Hall in the evening….it was a Christian thingy and it was a bit un-rocky for my liking…lots of alleluiahs and praise the lords… the funny thing is that I had no idea that Cliff Richard was going to be there and performing. I can’t say he was the most exciting atrist I have ever seen. Thank goodness for Alice Cooper and ‘The Killer’ album… playing that on a cassette in the coach was a bit of a saviour that day (pun not intended)

Chris Meachen…….I  too remember that coach trip;- it was in the days when you could tell you’d got to London because the smell changed… Don’t remember an awful lot about what went on in the Albert Hall, though, apart from the ‘flying saucers’ up in the ceiling…

John Storer….I don’t think any of us would have gone had we known we were going to see Cliff LOL Arranged by Sister Raggett if memory serves – and now the memories of Sunday night church discussion groups coming back when we used to commandeer her record player and Kev Potter putting on Atomic Rooster’s “Death Walks Behind You” before we started discussing the meaning of life and other things. And Chris … yep! … I remember now the “flying saucers” as well 🙂

Hastings Old Town Week – Early 90’s by Glenn Veness

Any idea what year?

Matt Thomas…..Recognise any of the bands playing? Early 90’s i think

Jim Breeds…..We’ve decided it is multiple years now. 91 and 93 and poss others. Over on HAPP, Sue Read spotted 1993 on the front of a train carnival float at 13:41  but think  multiple years because Rod Smith said that John Martyn clips are from ’91?

Alan Esdaile…..some good shots of John Martyn,  Min and the Expedient Band and notice a split second of Eric Harmer!  Excellent video by Glenn Veness who goes that extra mile to line up various pieces of music ‘Teach The Children’ CSNY and Paul Weller to work with the images on the scene. Must have taken him ages but much appreciated.

Jim Breeds……And yes, I loved the matching u of music. That included J.M. saxophonist being shown during sax breaks on whatever song was used for the soundtrack at that point
