Mick O’Dowd… Remember Colin Bell introducing this to me way back. The 2nd side of the album consisted of a 15minute live version of Get Ready and each musician had a solo spot but the drummer kept drumming. He must have been shattered at the end as he did a solo as well! This was when all bands seemed to do extended versions with solos featuring heavily. Remember Creedence Clearwater Revival on Cosmos Factory and I Heard It Through The Grapevine. If i’m right, Rare Earth were one of the first “white” groups to be signed directly to Motown label rather than to the Mowest subsidary that featured The Four Seasons. I believe the first “white” female artist to sign was Kiki Dee. I’m sure Andre might be able to confirm or correct me on that.
Alan Esdaile… Would have first heard Get Ready down The HiFi Club. Great track.
Caz Simpson… I have this album and I love Get Ready. I remember lending it to my son several years ago, his comment? ‘It blew me away’.
