Andy Qunta….Think might be from ’71 though. Factory were “getting it together in the country”, i.e. not gigging, in July ’70, & decimal money wasn’t in till ’71. Like any of that matters!
Phil Gill…I was there- end of term gig and I also think it was ’71 and not ’70. There was an amount of pupil revelry resulting in some pictures of teachers on a corridor wall being smashed and possibly at least one expulsion. It was a great gig. I was 15 and highly impressed with both bands and the drunken anarchical japes which resulted in said expulsions.
Pete Fisher…. The heady days of HGS…..must have just done my “O” levels…..vaguely remember Killing Floor inciting a small riot, probably just a couple of fire extinguishers getting let off, and the holy photos of the staff (Henshall in particular) getting defaced…still have a ticket for April that year for the High School Dance, with Factory and Sam Tripp…

Barry M Dyke…..I must have been there. My present wife was a High School girl and most of my mates were Grammer lads.
Tony Qunta….I sort of remember that gig, the High School always makes me think of the time I was at a sixth form cocktail afternoon when I had a lot of drink and ate a whole cucumber! Not a good combination!
Chris Sambrook….’Killing Floor’ Drummer Rod’Ath and Lou Martin keyboards later joined the Rory Gallagher band, I believe they performed on the great live album Irish Tour 74.
Geoff Peckham… It was at Hastings Grammar School and was 1971, Mick. According to Andy Q’s Factory diary, we were paid £15 and 8 students were expelled! Sounds like it was a good night!
Chris Meachen… Held in the main assembly hall at Hastings grammar school. As Phil said, an excellent night’s entertainment!
John Storer… was there too … remember both bands being excellent (never saw Factory when they weren’t excellent). Think the “trouble” started when Killing Floor got hold of one of the teacher’s Combined Cadet Force uniforms and set fire to it on stage … well … held a lighter to it anyway. Seem to remember it may have come from the Headmaster’s office. Colin Jarvis ended up tipping whiskey into the non-alcoholic punch that was available and I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the only alcohol added to the concoction. The next day was last day of the school year and, as a protest over the expulsions (all of whom were in the Lower 6th), several 6th Formers padlocked the school gate, thus locking all the teacher’s cars in. All the expulsions were rescinded over the summer. I left at the end of the next year, but there was no dance for us!
Eric Cawthraw… I have the album ‘Out of Uranus’, it’s on the Penny Farthing label. The only other thing I’ve got on that label is Steel Mill – god bless ‘em.
Phil Gill… I have that Killing Floor album too. Roger Carey and I were on a trip to London a few months after the school gig and spotted it in Harrods record dept, of all places. So I just had to buy it.
