Tony May….While we are on the subject of D.J’s in situ, here’s a pic of me D.J’ing at ‘Speakeasy’ along Kings Rd from around 1982. How things have changed these days! No, mics for D.J’s, no record decks – no records!

Tony May…..Yes, wonderful days – I was busy busy busy then most of it concerning a search for RECORDS – HA HA.

Matt Thomas…..HAIR!!!!!!!! LOL

Leigh Wieland-Boys…..we always used to wait for the first person to get up on the dance floor…..so that was you, was it?! Unfortunately I can’t seem to enlarge this photo so can’t see them very well. I worked various pubs & clubs, glass collector at Aquarius 1971-1972 – Cocktail waitress at Saturdays 1975-1976, Cinque Ports 1976-1979, also Scallis during that time (as well as a full time job)

Tony May…..Thanks guys! Yes, Leigh – I was always one of the first to ‘get on up and get down’ HA HA

Pete Fairless…..It was a great little club, spent quite a bit of time there, early ’80s…

Paul Bryant… I particularly liked the cinema section they had there, always showing a dodgy horror movie. Sure it was Colin Russell djing down there but my memory isn’t as good as it used to be,plus it was a long time ago

Jeff Belton… Reminds me when I did my second disco. In a place called Marlow House, Sidcup, Kent. Had their own set up, two decks, and a lighting control. All I had to take was my records , headphones, mic. This was in the late 1983.
Notice the pop group on the poster, The Thompson Twins or is it Imagination ?
After 1983 I carried on doing discos for 21 years , 2004. Those were the days lol.

Pete Fairless… That’s Imagination, Jeff

Paul Bryant… Sorry it’s actually Shalimar.

Terry Hardwick… I was the DJ Speakeasy Colin Russell worked with me . This is where I met Tony.

Man with Deke Leonard – Yorkshire Grey St Leonards 1992

Deke Leonard relaxing before the gig  – Photo Phil Little http://www.littledrum.co.uk/lightfromdarkness.html

Who remembers this gig?

Kevin Sherwood… Another one i missed but saw him on the pier with Man and Iceberg. A brilliant guitarist and author and unless I’m dreaming saw him in Mr Cherries with Mickey Jones sometimes in the 1980’s.

Phil Little… They played in Mr Cherry’s in 1991 before doing two gigs at The Yorkshire Grey in 1992

Kevin Sherwood… Cheers couldn’t remember quite when but they were great.

Gerry Fortsch… I remember having a few drinks and stuff with him a few years ago, I think it was at the Round House when my mates Nektar were playing.

Jan Warren… Aaaaawwww, blesss gorgeous man

Phil Little… The photo was taken in the office at Light From Darkness Studios in the basement of the Old Observer Building. The band stayed there before and after the gig.

Alan Esdaile… Here’s Phil talking about it recently…

Yvonne Cleland… Man played the Yorkshire Grey?! Wow!

Sandy Max… My mate Deke…went to a party with the band after; they were always great fun! Next time they came down he saw me arrive and called out “look out, here comes trouble!” Cue a very red-faced me heading for the bar!

The Pullbacks – Pete Prescott & Chris Sambrook – The Carlisle Hastings

photo: Pete Prescott

The band were called ‘The Pullbacks’ and had Joe Rytlewski on guitar and Martin Richter on bass.

Tony Qunta….The drummer from the first proper band I was in in Hastings with Andy Q!

Pete Prescott….i could get radio 4 on that haircut.its outside the carlisle around 1990/91 its Chris and Joe rytlewski was on guitar.i was passing and invited up to sing (probably) natural born woman.we were also joined by Richard (not sure of his 2nd name) the drummer of caravan.he was the landlord of a pub the lost boys played at in ashford.nice guy.good drummer.i used to love watching Chris play.he always put so much into his playing.

Yvonne Cleland…Phil Little was the drummer after Chris. Jez Gillett used to do vocals and keyboard for the Pullbacks when he didn’t have a gig with the Lost Boys.
