Rockpile featuring Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe – Hastings Pier 11th June 1979.

Phil Gill… How did I miss this gig? I’m a huge fan. In a related story, Steve Demetri, Andy Caine and I arranged to meet up with Ray Fenwick in the Old Town one carnival night, 1980, maybe 1981…Ray turned up with his friend Billy, who turned out to be Billy Bremner from Rockpile, dressed in exactly the same clothes as he wore on the cover of the “Seconds of Pleasure” album, same red jacket, same shirt , everything . He was good company, but it was weirdly like my album sleeve had come to life and was wandering round the Stade.

Peter Fairless… Likewise, gutted to have missed it. Guess it was because it was a Monday night. ‘So It Goes’ is one of my all time Top 10. Well found, Alan. Obviously a warm up for that US tour

Chris Giles… Thanks AlanI knew I had seen Dave Edmunds …was doubting myself it was the pier though… Thank you for searching ….yay. It was loud … I stood LH stage where I always did, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t very crowded.

Jim Breeds… Wow! I’d just started working in London by then, so that’s why I didn’t go.

Dave Boutwood… It was very poorly attended, so I watched right by the stage, couldn’t hear properly for a week.

Graham Wilks… The great Terry Williams on drums.

Ken Copsey… Supported by Lew Lewis. I seem to remember it wasn’t that busy.

Laurie Newman… I was there! Three of us drove over from Canterbury for it, remember it was so loud it affected my hearing and when driving back across The Marsh thought my car had packed up, as I couldn’t hear the engine!
