SMART 52 coffee meet report

Wet and very windy 52nd meet but didn’t discourage a Great turn out. Among the newbies this time were Nick Bloomfield, Peter and Sue Thomson and Paul Crimin. Nick was talking about his interesting website about the power of music to inspire, provoke and entertain, musicfortheheadandheart.buzz and also his filming and working on his song ‘beyond the lies’. Great to see Peter and Sue and Pete have with him a collection of old gig tickets of Thin Lizzy, Be Bop Deluxe, The Who and The Stranglers. They were also reminiscing with Tony Davis about when Tony did the disco at their wedding. Paul Crimin was chatting about his new cd that is due for release next month and called ‘Unplugged and Unhinged’. Reg Wood had with him a copy of Ginger Baker’s Airforce album from 1970 and I hadn’t noticed before but the image inside the gatefold sleeve has the silver style of Wheels of Fire Cream cover. He was also talking about what’s happening for Hastings Week. Cliff Wootton left some leaflets for his ‘Beggars’ Gate’ gig at All Saints Church Crowborough on 16th November 2019. Pete Prescott was talking about creating a list of albums & singles released by Hastings area musicians. He had with him a bundle of singles, as well as a copy of the Home Studio Recordings magazine with Chris Cozens and Nick Magnus feature. Steve Fitzy was talking about his memories and the groups he has sung with. Roger Carey had a photo from the Peter Kirtley Jubilee Charity event in 1998, to aid the street children in Brazil. The photo features Liam Genockey, Nana Tsiboe, Peter Kirtley, Colin Gibson, Liane Carroll and Kenny Craddock. Phil Little was talking about local bands and singers don’t get their fair share of royalties when played on the radio and the Live Music Forum has written to PRS. Paul Huggett was reminding people about the forthcoming ‘Willfest’ in tribute to drummer Will Powell, which takes place at The Duke St Leonards on Saturday 26th October. Too many other people to mention but this is just a very small bit of what I remember, anyone who wishes to add anything interesting you were talking about, then please feel free to do so.
