Mick O’Dowd….Yeah I saw them there as well. Good live band in their time. Also saw Ben E King, The Elgins, Percy Sledge (complete with padded trousers!) and Gene Chandler. Oh wot joyload!

Jim Breeds….OMG. I went that night!  I just noticed on that last poster …Missing a Y on the first Chirpy. Somebody gave Dave Dee and Beaky the night off on August 6th.One E too many in Gardner. One E too many in Geno.
One E too many in a nightclub became a bigger problem in the 80s of course.

Glenn PiperI saw Budgie play there

Colin Bell… if anyone has photos of opening night of Aquarius in George Street I-d love to see them as I did opening night with Middle Of The Road, great night and fond memories of Sally Carr trying to nick my trousers! But that’s a whole other story…..!

Kevin Burchett… was there on the opening night when Middle Of The Road played can’t remember much about it though,  probably to worse for wear lol

John Storer…“There Was A Time” by Gene Chandler …. the best Northern Soul track ever!

ticket supplied by Trevor Unwin

Anne Buchan… I went to that

Martin Richter… i wonder what the legal capacity was ?

John Gale… Martin, about 200 I would Imagine, with a fire escape to die for, literally, those steps, from the High Street up the side of the club to the West Hill !!! I often use to think, (my days up there were when it was Saturdays) , if there was a fire, 200 pissed people,, trying to descend those steps in the dark , some in high heels, that was just the fellas

Martin Richter… it was 480 when it was Saturdays

Vivienne Gibbs… Blimey my Dad was a bouncer there many years ago

Stephen Moran… I was there! Singing along to ‘Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep

Kevin Burchett… i was there to and everyone was singing along to chirpy chirpy cheap cheap lol

Maggie Hermitage… I was there it was brilliant look at the ticket prices!!!

Peter Fortsch… Christ I was 16 then and went on to play that at many weddings and discos
