David McLean… 958 the Bubble Car factory near Brighton Station – hence Isetta Way today

Marcus de Mowbray… Originally designed and made by Italian fridge company ISO, then manufacturing rights sold to BMW Germany, tjen to a French company which changed the design somewhat and the Velam is my favourite variant, then a production licence granted to BMW UK at the old rail works!

Judy Atkinson… Originally designed and made by Italian fridge company ISO, then manufacturing rights sold to BMW Germany, tjen to a French company which changed the design somewhat and the Velam is my favourite variant, then a production licence granted to BMW UK at the old rail works!

John Charles Beeching… Judy, nice bit of recycling.

Paul Huggett… I had one for a while; spent more time broken down than running. also put a large dent down the side of an Austin 1100 when a woman came round the corner even tighter to the white central line than I was. Luckily we weren’t going fast…. Those protruding bumpers on the front were handy like that!

Wendy Weaver… I had an Isetta. It was black and I painted it mauve. We went on a tour in it from Dorset which included a trip through the Mersey Tunnel. Found ourselves in the wrong lane in the tunnel and put the indicators on hopefully and the lorry drivers were so bemused that they actually stopped and let us change. Most of the road surface the other side of the tunnel were cobblestone, not good in a three wheeler. My daughter (two and a half) was sitting behind us on the engine and would wave to the other drivers. Must have been mad, don’t know how we all survived, but we did.

Graham Matthews… Would love another Messerschmitt or a Heinkel/Trojan but sooooooo expensive now.
