Alan Esdaile… ‘Nan’ couldn’t remember the name of this shop. Mick O’Dowd thought it was Ransomes. Doing some research I found there was a Broadway Stores grocers at number 1 and also a Mr Ranson lived at 2A. Anyone confirm the name and any memories of the shop?

Jo Turner… Sounds right. Ransoms or Ransons

Alan Honess… I think the daughter still lives there

Mick O’Dowd… Think his daughter was called Corinne.

David Edwards… I bet Geoff Head knows.

Dave Reece… Five Nelson and a bookmatch Eleven Pence Ha’penny!!

Mick O’Dowd… Mr Ransome lived next door in The Broadway. My Mum worked part-time for a while, Eldorado icecream? Forgotten that one.

Jak O’Dowd… The Broadway Stores, owned/ran by Mr Ransom. My mum worked there part time in the 60s.

Terry Hopper… You used to take your life in your hands every time when stepping out of the door straight onto Fairlight Road

Mick O’Dowd… Yes it was Mr Ransom who owned/ran the shop and he lived next door in the Broadway. My Mum worked part-time for him sometimes.
