John Taplin radio station

Leon Heller… John Taplin, a blind radio amateur, demonstrating his radio station to some youngsters. The Taplin Centre in St Leonards is named after him. Our club, the Hastings Electronics and Radio Club, used to meet there. I think he belonged to it, the club’s been going since the 1920s.

Alan Esdaile… I remember him, when I lived in St Thomas’s Road and pretty sure he lived in the house, next door to the Grocers in Whitefriars Road.

Bernard Goffredo… no it was opposite on the corner of Emmanuel Road just near to where I lived there were lots of Ariel wires strung over the front of the house
