Dave Weeks… We used to sneak in the pool at night ( when we were slim enough to squeeze through the turnstile).

Stuart Moir… Changed a lot since then .

Kevin Burchett… I was lifeguard on that pool for 1 season around that time but cant see myself in that picture

Leigh Mitchell… I worked in the bars at Coombe Haven during the summer seasons 1974, 1975 & 1976! Hard work but great workmates!

Patricia Burgess… My parent had 3 caravans there and I met my husband, one of the Talismen , when staying there in 1963. Where did they put the pool ?

Jo Turner… Worked one summer thee mid 70s

Peter Houghton… I worked there around that time in the Main Club House, worked in the morning then went home in the afternoon and started about 6pm till it closed around midnight and was brought home

Andy Wright… I used to go up to their TV room and watch TOTP because I wasn’t allowed to watch it at home in ‘69.

Kevin Burchett… If it had been the year before I would have been the lifeguard on that pool great job i met my 1st wife there

Anyone remember the surname of the keyboard player?

Judi Clark… Found this site by accident as thought I saw Martin Stringer walking past the hairdressers in Silchester Rd yesterday, so Googled him and found that sadly he’s no longer with us. Nor Robin Heggie – another talent lost – and Steve Demetri. I believe that’s Andy Ellis on keys. We remained friends for many years but, sadly, he’s gone, too, 20 or so years ago. He suffered a brain injury from a motorcycle crash (pillion) which eventually took him some years later. Anyway, I was up to 3am absorbed by the family trees of the bands I was connected to. There was a shout out from Andy Knight on one of the posts. Don’t know how to get in touch, but maybe site admin can pass on email? I’ve been off the scene 30 years or more but it did prompt some fond memories. I’m alive and well in Bexhill. Big love to you all.

Nastassja Kashevsky… yes, it is Andy Ellis. He played keys in the Decorators with us!

Barry French… Great to hear from Judi! She did a brilliant job fronting us Dum Boys & composed some fine songs. My favourites were “The wind is crying” (Hope Ive got the title right) & a horror parody of “And then he kissed me” called “And then he bit me” So sad about Andy, he should have had long life of fun & gigging in front of him.

Phyllis Mendenhall… Could it be in Dimarco s along teddy boy walk which is where the Carlisle’s is.

Lloyd Johnson… It maybe The Oyster Bar that was in Robertson Street in the 50s…that’s where the Ted’s hangout…

Chris Meachen… I remember buses coming the other way having to mount the pavement. Almost hard to believe that this was a 2 way street, & the main road through the old town..

Tony Court-holmes… used to live at 103a

Linda Gowans… An elderly fisherman told me (in about 1960) that you should have seen the traffic jams with horse-drawn waggons in the High Street!

Steve Hamilton… 52a here! Vague recollection of buses and arguments on the road. Arguments still around today no doubt!

Mick O’Dowd… Its hard to think High Street was two-way. I know there were a lot of close calls but nothing too serious I recall!

Claire Lonsdale… And there’s my old house on the right. Lived there for 17 years.

Peter Ellingworth… Photo taken in 1955 I believe, possibly the same day as the Pump House one shown previously. The guy that took it has this on the Historical Hastings site with an explanation. Unfortunately I can’t quite see the TB reg no., or from my records I could see what happened to this particular TB after closure of the Hastings system in 1959. Am I correct for the TBuses, at least in latter years, there was a traffic light control system for one vehicle only at a time working at each end of the High Street automatically activated by passage of the buses themselves?
