Ruth Fielding… These are some photos of Stubberfields garage that my Grandpa owned in Silverhill .I remember going here with my Gran to get petrol and the staff always came out to fill the car up . My Grandpa used to race at brands hatch and he loved his cars. It is sad the garage was sold and never stayed as a garage.

Mike Cramp… Some smashing cars in there. Thanks for the post

David Martin… I remember going in there with my dad to look at the Triumph Stag when it first came out. I thought it was fantastic.

Ken Hatch… Used to go there with my Dad to get Rover parts. Had a proper parts dept with storemen in brown overalls.

Peter Ellingworth… It was opposite the old Silverdale Infants School, before they became all as one with the then new Juniors in Perth Road.

Nigel Ford… Used to get my 1963 Triumph Herald 12/50 parts from there in the early 70s, wishbone and gear linkage bushes most memorable, yes helpful storeman…. got any ‘ose… no o’s!

John Busbridge… I used to know the works manager Bill Slack, he was a close friend of my Dad.

Peter Ellingworth… Touche- my first car too was a 1966 Triumph Herald- LLY 417D, bought off my cousin in St. Albans who himself had it from virtually new as an ex-demonstrator car. Couldn`t afford anything new at the time……virtually rebuilt the thing… new rear outriggers, engine top overhaul, linkage bushes, trunions, etc. etc. Back in `75 drove all the way in it to a small village near to Hof in Germany, which at that time was only around five miles from the former GDR and Czech border where a friend was getting married, together with two friends and one of my cousins who was over from Australia at the time. Things you do when younger…..
I remember we drove in it while staying there to Nuremburg for the day, and left it in a multi-story car park. When we returned this then middle age guy was hanging around, spoke to me in flawless English saying that he had a passion for older English cars and wanted to buy it off me there and then, even offering to pay our fares home. I declined, but he gave me his business card, and on further conversation turned out to be an ex Luftwaffe officer who had been a POW in Canada and the UK at the latter part of the war.

Justin Evans… Hello. I have recently purchased a Jaguar Mk2 which was sold at this dealer and I would love to find anything related to the sale and any memorabilia, keyrings, tax disc holder etc. Thank you .

Pauline Richards… Had forgotten about that

Harry Randall… Remember it well used to get my Morris Mini parts from there, when it closed had to go all the way to St Leonards

Vic Martin… When i left school in 1952 at the age of 15, i called in at the garage and asked if could work there. I must have spoken to the right person as i started right away. Serving customers filling up with fuel(shot of redex) cleaning windscreens. In the workshop spraying oil on springs, grinding in valves etc. certainly learnt a lot. Happy days

John Busbridge… Knew it well, workshop manager was Bill Slack.

Andre Martin… Gosh that brings back memories.

Mark Harris… where am i?

Dave Nattress… Great to see some old mates again! I didn’t know Steve Russell or Dave Miller, but Mick Kemp was our drummer in Damaris and drummed in Boulder also at the time, Steve Watson, (Loggerhead) but then in The Charts with Andy Leaney, (RIP old friend), Mick Bridgland and myself. We had Tony Dufton play with us a few times – he had a brand new Les Paul Custom at one time and maybe a re-issue Gold Top – memory’s a bit shaky, but he didn’t stay with us. Then we had Lee Sulsh come in with Andy giving us 2 guitars but Andy left, (can’t recall why – moving on to bigger things I think, as there was no fall-out between us all), leaving Lee, Mick Bridgland, Steve Watson and me. We did some good demo’s at Tony Bird’s Wing Studio in Ninfield and Steve Watson’s bass was well up in the mix and Lee could certainly handle lead guitar – Yamaha SG2000 I think. Lee did a great solo on “Since you went away” – our attempt at power-pop. Eventually we went on Hiatus and never got back together! Anyone have contact details for Steve Watson. Mick Kemp and Tony Dufton?

Mark Harris… Tony very sadly passed away many years ago.

Dave Weeks… Tony Dufton. Another one taken far too early.

Dave Nattress… Thanks Mark for confirming, I had actually heard something like this a long time ago, but was unsure if it was true. I first knew Tony when he worked in Hollingsworths, Ford Dealers, Bexhill, a very long time ago.

Mark Harris… He certainly did, loved his mk 3 Cortina!!

Terry Pack… I’m sorry to read this. Tony was a very nice man.
