Beverley Martyn – George Street Hall Hastings in 1992

Wee Jock… I used to live round the corner from her and Spenser they lived in Waterloo street and I lived on Brunswick terrace in Hove. Can I say that’s a special flier as I am a former sound tech at the black market VIP and that was the George street hall I love the history of that venue

Phil Little… I promoted that gig and played Congas on a couple of numbers. I’m hoping to do an interview with Beverley in the near future, talking about performing at Monterey Pop Festival and Dave Crosby recording 12 of her songs at his home, among other things.

Groucho Kangaroo… From time to time I search the internet for news on Beverley as I’m a big fan of her music – hence I stumbled onto your little post here. It would be so great to have some news on how she’s doing these days and if she’s palnning to release some new music or archival material. The release of her 1966/67 sessions on LP in 2018 has been a sensation – and I still hope that her gig at the Monterey Pop Festival has been recorded. As the people of the MPFestival-Foundation have started to release deluxe vinyl editions of some unreleased Monterey recordings it would be great if they would continue to do so until even Beverley’s little set would see the light of day. It would be amazing if the Crosby tape would still be in exsitence somewhere – I only know about two unreleased acetate demos by Beverley that should have ended up as bonus tracks on the CD-version of the 1966/67 sessions (but unfortunately Fly Records never released the CD).

I hope you’ll be able to speak to Beverley soon – a new interview would be most welcome.
    All the best,
