Rock Night 6 – The Hamsters plus The Lost Boys Marina Pavilion 20th April 1996
poster supplied by Pete Prescott
Jim Breeds… The Hamsters were very good. Shame they packed it in – I went to one of their last gigs. Think it may have been their very last gig.
Pete Prescott… I remember that gig well. They were not happy with us. We went on first, it was our crowd. A few hundred walked out after a few songs. Shame as they were a great band.
The Dekorators – around 1982
supplied by Nastassja Kaschevsky
Chris Kimber, Nastassja Kaschevsky, Jeanette Saxby, Doug DuggyFresh Smith, Geoff Saxby.
Tony Ham….They used to play Ma Beeton’s in Rye, the only song I remember them doing though is Jilted John.
Hastings Local Band Photos….Yeah, many a gig in there….think it’s the Ghandi restaurant now!
Geoff Saxby…..The Dekorators broke the world record for non stop playing in January 1985 at Becketts Bar in Bexhill, Devonshire Road. 147 hours…
Tony Ham…..Does it still stand and did they play Jilted John?
Nastassja Kaschevsky….Dave Blackman stood in for me on drums……can’t find anything on the internet about it anywhere!
John Bownas… In reply to Richard Peet, Richard – did you ever reach Geoff? I have his e-mail address in Australia if you want it still. drop me a line john@hastingsflyer.com … by the way… they were all right handed (even the drummer despite the kit looking like it is set up for a left-hooker) … the photos have been reversed The record still may stand as Geoff tells me it was dropped out of the Guinness categories while they held it…
Pete Ellis… Andy Ellis and Steve Murphy played for the record breaking week. I believed the record was broken. I have the Guinness Book with the Dekorators mentioned. But sadly it’s a very small / basic entry
A chance to get BBC2 in Hastings – launched on 20th April 1964
advert 1964 and 1965. Can you remember watching it, when it was first broadcast?
Paul Crimin… We could never get BBC2 on our tele. I think it checked out bank accounts before it would allow people to watch it. It was too posh for us anyway. lol.
Mike Waghorne… Redifusion Tv had it I think ?
Mike Cope… Television, Television? Eee thy were Lucky Lad! We only had’t Puddle end ‘ot’ Garden…
Jane Hartley… We didn’t have it til much later.
Barry French… My Dad bought a space age looking indoor Ariel (All loops & angles) that was guaranteed by the TV shop salesman to pick up BBC2. Well it did to a point, but every show looked like it was filmed during an Antarctic blizzard (Massive white dots flying around the screen) My dad moved the Ariel all over the room to try & get a decent picture but to no avail. In the end he said something like ” Sod this for a game of soldiers” and chucked it in the bin.
