Nice Day and good to be back at the White Rock Hotel, great venue for a coffee and a chat. Talk was about a paper gig guide, new logo on our website www.ninebattles.com  which reflects a 70’s feel. Hastings Pier, will  the theatre be big enough to attract top names, Bob Knight’s memories. Excellent tv show on David Bowie. Possibilty of organising an early evening get together. ‘Venuu’ in Geroge Street has gigs lined up and  a new venue in Kings Road ‘Kave Gallery‘ which used to be ‘The Happening‘ many years ago and John Wilde’s connection.  Andre’s press cuttings and lots of interest in the local 60’s band ‘Deep Purple‘ featuring Titch Turner. Andre has promised some more great pictures soon, so watch this space. Don’t forget if anyone has any old band cuttings photos etc, please feel free to post them here. More talk on the Disc Jockey Record Shop and Alan Jensen. Kevin Carlyon has been asked to screen test for the new series of ‘Big Brother’.  Mick Mepham’s write up in the paper. Carnival FM Radio from the Jenny Lind in August. Still trying to track down Colin Parker aka Colin Bell.  Also chat on Steve Maxted, The Equals, Geno Washington still putting on a great show and looking forward to seeing the flight of the Vulcan over Hastings on 16th June.

Another good session at the White Rock Hotel – we covered a lot of ground and I have some more research to do – that’s what happens when we get together and share experiences and stories, great stuff, great location, great people, and I can also confirm as I had lunch beforehand GREAT FOOD – well done Lawrence and the staff. Will keep posting and looking forward to the next meeting.            Andre Palfrey-martin

THE MIGHTY MICK MEPHAM ROCKS ON

One of the hardest working musicians around. When he’s not busy performing up and down the country with rock band ‘90% Proof’ or playing with the more traditional folk sounds of ‘Titus’, Mick takes to the stage for a solo outing. Mick and his guitar but don’t be fooled, nothing mellow about his performance.  The powers up, die hard fans are in place and the sweat is flowing. Rock classic after classic are played from  Bryan Adams ‘Summer of 69’, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Oh Well’, ‘Prince ‘Sign O The Times’ and the stand out version of ‘Canned Heat’ ‘On the Road Again’ with a bit of ZZ Top thrown in for good measure!  As well as some new original songs which went down well. Catch him soon at one of his many gigs listed on his website www.mickmepham.com
