Pete Fairless… I might have been there…
Alan Esdaile… I was and they were excellent.
Chris Meachen… I dragged their gear on, and announced them when they went on…
Paul Morfey… I was there, seen them loads of tlmes since!
Jim Breeds… I was there. I might have a ticket stub somewhere but not sure where. Saw them all over the place. Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, Milton Keynes (yes, really), Folkestone, London and places I’ve forgotten. Lat time was Aylesbury in 2013, the night of my 60th birthday. Peter Knight’s final tour with them. Now I see Gigspanner whenever I can.
Tony Court-holmes… I was there
Drew Drew Barney… Me too!
Chris Meachen… The best moment for me was in the otherwise empty ballroom before the gig, when all 6 members of the band turned up, stood in a circle & burst into ‘Gaudete’ & another couple of acapella numbers. One of the most magical musical experiences I’ve ever heard..
Alan Esdaile… Chris, I remember.
Jim Breeds… I was at this one.
Patrick Lewis… So was I, I think.
Carol Anne… I was there, they were brilliant

Blowzabella will be at St Mary In The Castle May 20th 2016 – “Blowzabella is a genuinely unique band that makes an inimitable, driving, drone-based sound played with a fabulous sense of melody, rhythmic expertise and sheer feeling. They compose their own music which is influenced by English and European traditional dance music.” more information… http://stmaryinthecastle.co.uk
and he was playing A Horse With No Name
Jim Breeds… Surely he was playing the guitar? Whether or not it had a name, I don’t know. 🙂
Phil Gill… No, I can tell by looking at his expression he was playing the B side, “Sandman”.
Jim Breeds… It’s a great photo of Clive. Hair’s a bit longer than when we were at school though. I met up with Clive last year for the first time in decades. Thanks to Alan for putting us in touch.
Andrew Freeman… Instantly recognisable as Clive, though with more hair than at school as Jim says.
Stephen Fletcher… Not seen Clive for years is he still about.
Alan Esdaile… He lives now in Battle, Stephen.
Diane Knight… Oh .. I do remember that face…
John McCallion… In the same class, Priory Road.
Mick O’Dowd… Great to see Clive. Pity he can’t make the Meets. I reckon he’s playing The Sound Of Silence.
Tony Court-holmes… does bloody good tours round england check it out. Jill and I go often.
Phil Gill… He looks very short in the pier photo.
Peter Brazier… That was just after we fixed the landing stage! I had to put that chain up lol
Jo Turner… I use to go digging for worms by the pier with Clive when I was a teenager. He taught me how to beat them digging down fast. Fond memories.

Pete Prescott… A year I’ll never forget. It was the lost boys last gig. Very emotional.i loved being in that band. It was filmed. I still have it. I should put some of it on you tube. Amazing much missed festival.
Kev Towner… Yes you should Pete!!
Paul Dengate… Couldn’t have been a better folk reunion day.
Stuart Moir… Saw the video at Pilot studio, brilliant performance loved it

Andy Qunta.. RIP John.
Jim Breeds… I can’t find corroboration of this news yet but it would be unlike Ian Anderson at fRoots not to be sure of the news before posting it.
Patrick Lewis… Thats sad. Great musician. Saw him several times with Pentangle and once solo at the Black Horse.
Jim Breeds… I’m jealous Pat!
Jim Breeds… My recollection is that I was going to see Magna Carta at the pavilion but they cancelled?? May be a false memory or may be a different date.
Alan Esdaile… Might be right Jim. This is an old cutting I found among my bits and pieces and a band I have long forgotten about. Checking their website it lists this gig but does not mean they played it. Anyone here confirm?
Colin Bell… Jim…I had a provisional booking to compere a gig for MC in October 71 at WR but this was not confirmed and I have no memory of doing it, so they either didn’t play or did play and got someone else to compere!…..
Pete Fairless… That gig is listed on Marmalade Skies, too. Can’t help beyond that, I’m afraid. I was too young in ’71…
Sarah Harvey…. Well here is the advert for the White Rock Pavilion for that week from the Observer but can’t find anything about them not appearing.

Alan Wood… Wish I’d seen film for Australian migrants on Thursday, could be sitting on bondi beach now !!!!
Mark Gilham… I once had a Magna Carta album with a load of apples on the sleeve. Does anyone know the name of it?
Philip Meston…I’ve still got Seasons on vinyl! Great album & what a voice!
Chris Sambrook… Yes the memory can play tricks. I seem to remember seeing them at Hastings College, gods knows when.
Jim Breeds… At last a clipping featuring a production that I performed in!! Scout Show ’71! Yay! I was in a couple of acting scenes and the chorus. lol. It’s Interesting what Colin says.
Sarah Harvey…Jim, when all the old bands and artists get together for a reunion, I hope you will be contributing with ‘Ging gang goolie goolie goolie goolie watcha, Ging gang goo, ging gang goo. ‘ 🙂
