Kevin Burchett… SPYKE PLAYED AT SCALLYS THE FIRST WEDNESDAY AFTER OPENING SOON AFTER THEY REFORMED TO BECOME JINKS

John Storer… Aah! …. those halcyon days of crimpolene flares! 🙂

Peter Millington… We didn’t reform, we just added Rod Trowell to our line-up and changed our name from SPYKE to JINKS. That change happened after 28th May 1975 and before our return to Scalliwags on 11th July that same year. Thanks for posting Kevin – my “style cred” has just hit the buffers!

Peter Gladwish… Just noticed my band, ‘Vogue’ were on this advert. We were regulars at Scallywags for quite a while.

Pete Prescott… I still have the Jinks album on cassette (light blue cover )

Mayor and Mayoress Ball Hastings

Supplied by John Busbridge

John Busbridge… The Mayors Ball, one of the big occasions of the year, held in December near Christmas I think. Look at the band playing in the Gloucester Room! Whats the Years?

Nigel Sinden…  I did not get any gifts this year. If I had they would gone to others needing them more than me. I hope to see many changes this year. As we can not go down truther perhaps it is time to start looking at raising those at the bottom instead of supporting those at the top.

John Busbridge… I believe the Ball was organise by the Hastings Rotary and the Gifts were all collected by the Mayor for distribution to local Charities! It would be good if something like this could be re-invented. Everything about Christmas has got too materialistic. My wife and I didn’t even give each other cards or presents this year instead we gave the money to Crisis to help the homeless and just kept our cards from the year before!

Pete Millington… I’m pretty sure this was 1975 which is when we changed our name from Spyke to Jinks. It was also when Rod Trowell joined making the line up Peter Millington – Rhythm guitar (formerly on Bass) Ian Williams – Lead Guitar, Terry Chedzoy – Drums, Rod Trowell – Bass Guitar. Don’t recall the Music Masters – do you know if they were dance band or group?

Bobby Posner… Can you name all my old friends and groups?

Redstar Richter…. Min?

Myra King… Nigel Davies, Clive Davies

Andy Qunta… Looks like dear old Dermot Murphy, front row right! Dave Easton front & centre! Now I need to start looking more carefully!

Barry Newton… I can see King, Rod , Kirk and Greg

Terry Pack… Terry, Ginger, Trevor…

Mark Harris… Was that at the Tudor Rose?

Peter Millington….Yep Mark it was – the gig went from 12:00 midday to 12:00 midnight – live music and laughs all the way. I have to say we kinda faded after 9:00pm though LOL. This was a private party (same as previous picture of Grundy) upstairs in the Tudor Rose, where the entertainment came from musician friends and free – bless ’em all. GRUNDY (Clive Davies, Bob Posner, Kirk Ronchetti, Nigel Davies RIP) JINKS (Rod Trowell, Trev Spears, Terry Chedzoy, Kevin Hoad, Peter Millington) Plus members of THE WEATHERMEN. CENTRE PAGE, HILLSTREET (Chris Sayer RIP, Paul Burton, Kingsley Trowell, RIP, Tony Bird, Stuart Grimes, Stuart Moir, Rev Stockdale RIP, Dermot Murphy, Pete Gladwish, Dave Easton, Greg Pearce, Pete Shaw, Dudley Trowell. The best “Jam Session” ever – a great afternoon enjoyed by all. Every musician, bar a couple perhaps, were playing in the ’60s and have played on the Pier many times between 1961 and 1990. Most are still playing in various groups in and around Hastings, unless of course they’ve moved on to a higher calling RIP.

Robert Searle… Great picture of some smashing blokes

Peter Millington… Second Photo. L-R Back Row = Paul Burton, Stuary Moir, Pete ?, Kirk Ronchetti, Terry Chedzoy, Peter Millington, Kevin Hoad, Chris the Banjo? ? Trev Spears, Clive Davies, Bobby Posner, Nigel Davies, Rod Trowell, Stuart Grimes. L-R Front Row = Kingsley Trowell, Greg Pierce, Chris Sayer, Dave Easton, Rev Stockdale, Dermot Murphy. Great afternoon of busking and drinking upstairs at the Tudor Rose, St Leonards May 1997.
