Paul Huggett… Not to mention the 1970s Rally Jacket
Rick Baldwin… Paul Huggett and Jason King ….never seen in the same room!!
Alan Wood… Paul Huggett was young once ??
Mike Mitchell… Favourite gig?
Alan Wood… Wow !! What a memory !!
Matt Thomas… I was at the same Toyah one
Paul Huggett… I missed one! Calexico with Iron & Wine at the DLWP, 2019 I think or early ’20
Dave Nattress… An interesting post! Must make a list myself. I have all the vinyls, cassettes and cd’s listed – and in a long life there are a lot, but a list of gigs attended, not yet, but will start it for personnel interest. It will be a long list going back to first gigd in 1967 or something like. Yeah interesting idea!
Mike Haddock… Wow – what a list! remember Paul well – he worked with me in the 60’s and then for me in the 70’s. At least I thought he was working – looks as if he was attending shows much of the time!
Paul Huggett… Wow pass my best on to Mike please Alan, we lost touch some years ago! Great to hear from him Taught me a lot back in the day.
Peter Fairless… What happened between 1975 and 1988?
Paul Huggett, Barry French, Jenny Kebel, Bruce Cameron
Paul Huggett… We did one heck of a lot of gigs in the clubs and a few pubs with that band. For pretty much the same figures pay wise as some bands get now.
Barry French… Remember that photo shoot well. What I wouldn’t give for that head of hair !!!!!
Alan Hopkins… Barry French’s hair is AMAZING! I’m jealous
Neil Cartwright… Ahhh. ‘Hammer Fist’ !!!!

Barry French… Hi Neil. Never seen these shots before. Any idea of the venue?
Sheila Maile… I was a good friend of Will Powell he was in a band called Festivity Blues with my boyfriend in1969/71, do you know his whereabouts?
Barry French… Will is still living in Hastings (Not sure where) My wife saw him out recently, & apart from recovering from a broken leg, he was fine & in good spirits.
Sheila Maile… Thank you for reply

Barry French, Jenny Kebel and out of shot Will Powell & Paul Huggett.
Neil Cartwright… Ah … the good old ‘Hammer Fist’ !!! 😉
Peter Millington… Great Pic – Remember seeing them in the Old town around 1974
Barry French… Just to explain Neil’s “Hammer Fist” comment. Amethyst were in the main, a middle of the road club band. We had an Agent who got us a Pub gig, which if memory serves me correct was on the outskirts of Maidstone. The agent assured us that “Amethyst was just the band the venue were looking for”. When we arrived at the pub we were amazed at the many motor bikes that were parked outside. On entering the pub (dressed in our mauve frilly shirts & flares) we were greeted with a pub full of bikers, with Paranoid (or something very similar) being played on the jukebox. Thinking this can’t be the right venue we went in search of the Land Lord. We found him in the back bar, behind him pinned on the wall was a massive poster. Illustrated on the poster was a huge clenched fist surrounded by lightning bolts. Written on it were the words that sent a chill down the spine,” HAMMER FIST” here tonight 8pm to 11pm. Well to cut a long story short,we did the gig, the Bikers (As bikers always are) were polite & friendly & i’m sure some were singing along to Jambalaya during our Carpenters medley. A gig well survived, but none of us had the nerve to ask for another booking.
Neil Cartwright… ‘Come-a Come-a down, dooby-do down down’ =D
Peter Millington… The memory is back – I saw Amethist at the Kings Head in the Bourne – A Pub Gig but no Bikers, Phew! I hear you say Barry.

The Edge featuring Will Powell, Neil Cartwright, Barry French and Paul Huggett.
Barry French… This was a real fun band to be in, minimal rehearsals, a few beers & good audiences (I think people may have expecting a certain Irish guitarist). Prior to playing with the Edge Will Powell played drums with a blues/rock power trio called Egorr, who played regularly at the Regent during the early 70’s. He later went on to play with Footloose who had great success around Hastings & shared the bill with Hat Trick on a few gigs. Neil Cartwright (One of my dearest friends) has played in loads of bands around Hastings (To many to list) but along with the Edge we shared the stage in the Dum Dum Boys & Mice On Ice (I have dated this Edge clip from the Hastings News around 1987, but I’m sure Neil will correct me if I’m wrong). Neil currently resides in France & we see each other regularly. I think that Paul Huggett is currently playing Bass with the Rhythm Doctors.
Cliff Wootton… I remember Will Powell being the drummer in Egorr when they played with us on a regular gig in the Regent Hotel basement.
Judith Monk… I know Neil Cartwright.
Mick O’Dowd… Yes Will Powell was in Footloose a brilliant band that seems to have disappeared in the mists of time.
