Stewart Copeland’s Police Diaries book – recommended by Pete Fisher

Pete Fisher… Delighted with my copy of Stewart Copeland’s new book Stewart Copeland’s Police Diaries. It really is a must read for both Curved Air and Police fans, covering the years 1975-1978, with original diary scans, fantastic photos and loads of detail, including the 1976 Hastings Pier gig. Alan Esdaile… I remember Martin Casson agency promoted them at Chatham Town Hall and l wondered who this smartly dressed kid was and someone said he’s the new drummer. When we realised who he was, his dad was a big name in the music industry, we were not impressed but then we shut up when we realised how good he was but he did look a bit out of place with his dress code at that stage!!

Pete Fisher… It was Stewart’s elder brother Miles who was the music promoter/manager Alan and later managed the Police. He started out with Wishbone Ash. Their Dad was also called Miles, and had been a CIA officer and then an “intelligence consultant”. Stewart was drummer and tour manager of Curved Air at that point…
