Jacquie Hinves… I was a ward sister there
Jilly Jones… Great memories of working there xx
Graham Matthews… Had a few trips and stays there in my time.
Jonathan Rudd… Graham, me too
Fred Marsh… Worked its last night on ward 4. Walked around the hospital empty and eerie. It was a privilege to work there.
Julie Findlay-jones… Been there a few times, mostly with broken bones.
Paul Cullen… Had my tonsils out there
Pauline Sims… Remember the hospital – it looked very modern to us in the 1960s!!!
Richard Padgett… I was a Staff Nurse there in A&E in 1977.
Richard Padgett… I was a deputy charge nurse in 1979 in the Psychogeriatric unit when there was Dr Tom Venkat and a Scottish geriatrician and a social worker called Myrtle Bagnall. I recall Harry H Corbett of steptoe and son fame passed away there.
Matt Thomas… I thought Harry H Corbett died in St Helens?
Alan Esdaile… I remember being in the RESH for an operation, when I had the shop on the pier. Julie was running the shop for me and will the help of my mum and dad and Kevin, they were busy making hundreds of Radio Caroline badges!
John Wilde… I was a Nursing Auxilliary there and eventualy ended up as a pharmacy assistant, it was a great community hospital.
Angela Frances Gardner… I had my wisdom tooth taken out there. It was impacted so my jaw had the be dislocated to remove it.
Marilyn Spence… Been living in Australia for 61 years Had my hip bone wrenched in that hospital when I was 14 years old
Margaret Trowell.. I worked there for 12 years in 70s and 80s, admin, eye department, nursing office and as a medical secretary in geriatrics. Wonderful catering department with proper daily cooked fresh food for patients and staff. There was a manned coffee lounge to take your breaks. Free car parking too! We all knew each other and it was such a friendly place to work. I’m still in touch with some of the staff. I do wish a book had been written about it’s history as ex Administrator Don Valentine did for St Helens Hospital ( I was once his secretary too when he came to the RESH). Lots of wonderful old school nursing staff in their recognisable uniforms. Happy days! If anyone does remember those days I would love to provide my memories for a possible book if someone wants to write it!
