Sarah Harvey… January 25th, 1969. ‘Forbidden Fruit’ were a late 60s group from the Winchester area who emerged from a band called ‘Wheel Of Fortune’. In the photo L-R Tim Joblin (Vocals) Maurice Skip (organ) Ken Cook (bass) Graham Sherin (guitar) Dave Bunney (drums).

Suspects – Tackleway Football Club Hastings – 7th March 1969

march 7th 1969.

Chris Baker… Weren’t they called Suspect (singular) ?

Andy Qunta… I think maybe they alternated. Maybe started one way then changed?

Robert Searle… Were Suspects when I was with them.

Alan Esdaile… I always think of them as Suspect but it looks like they started out as Suspects and then probably typos on ads changed it to Suspect. Anyone confirm?

Karen Sweatman…. Found these other Suspects photos.  Thought you might be interested. Don’t think I’ve provided them before.

Alan Esdaile… Excellent Karen. Have not seen these before. Anyone confirm the line up was still the same, David Easton, Peter James Shaw, John Unwin, Peter Blackman, Mick Ingram?

Peter Gladwish… Line-up confirmed.

Peter Millington… Well if I didn’t know better I would have put Dave Easton down as a headmaster rather than the “wild man of pop”.

Alan Mitchell… Great picture, two Hofner Veri-thin guitars. I’ve alway’s like them.

Karen Sweatman… Mum still has Dads. Unfortunately, it is not playable anymore. Looked at getting it fixed, but will cost a fortune. It’s still lovely to look at.

Martin Richter… my silvertone looks like the one on the right – nice geetars!

Terry Pack… Is that Mick Ingram on the left?

Karen Sweatman… I believe it is

Terry Pack… Haven’t seen him since the early 1980s. I wonder where he is.

Robert Searle… Photos get better. I bet Dave got all the bookings.

Colin Fox… There’s a little bit of Buddy Holly in Dave. Ooooooh eeeeer miss’s.

Pete Shaw… Dave did exactly that..by BT phone of course! He rode round on his Vespa and often directly into the Sidley rehearsal hall, driving round in circles wearring his hat and a silly grin! I have no idea exactly when and where these photos were taken (I was no doubt high on Tizer…) but as the band met in Bexhill mainly, I would expect there!

Karen Sweatman… The group ones were out Friston/Jevington way Peter I believe. There are a couple of Dad taken at the same time with his number one groupie – my Mum! 🙂

Pete Shaw… Thanks Karen for posting the photos…I had never seen them!

Pete Shaw….We used to play at The Continental Club, Eastbourne which was a three/four storey building which is now Laura Ashley….had to carry the kit up to the third floor and we were great competition for Eastbourne bands…one drummer used to leave chewing gum on my drum stool….it stopped when I stuck one on him..literally….I did succumb some years later and joined an Eastbourne band…but this is where playing away from Hastings really started…we were friends with The Lurking Gromwells!!…a Ninfield band…at least Graham had a Thames Trader 15cwt Van that we turned over at Cowbeech! The farmer was more interested in the integrity of his recently replaced 5 bar gate than us…I left via the shattered windscreen to pick up my scattered drums along the Lane!! Remember that Dave!! Graham’s Van was, yep, well bent and left outside his home!

Andy Qunta….Oh the good old days, eh Pete! Great stories!

Robert Searle….Great stories Pete. The O’Driscolls had some great photos of the Lurking Gromwells. Don’t know if they still have them though.

Pete Shaw…..Just shows that they did exist! The name came from a statement made by now, the late guitarist Chris Sayers commenting on a female at his gig where “you couldn’t slide a fag paper between her nose and chin”…..some local witch huh!! They had a repertoire just like the legendary Liverpool group, The Big Three……!”
