John Bowles… Like many bands of that time, and without the smartphone technology we enjoy today, we didn’t film our gigs, but I’ve attached a couple of photos . The colour one is definitely taken at The Crypt, maybe even from the poster gig on 22/3/89, while the black and white one is from sometime in 1988, in Eastbourne, I think. The venue escapes me, I’m afraid. We went through numerous line ups, but myself, John Swaine and Cullum Looker were the mainstays from the very beginning with various drummers, bass and keyboard players, joining and leaving over the years. I left in late 89 and they carried on as a 3-piece for another year before calling it a day. Myself and JS moved to London in the early 90s and formed Skinjob, playing the Camden circuit, Marquee Club and Borderline, amongst others, along the way. JS retired from live performance several years ago and became the resident sound engineer at the Dublin Castle for a while. I, meanwhile, continued to play in numerous bands before ending up today as the bass player in punk outfit, The Xzitz.
