Prog rock, blue denim, long hair were all essential elements of life for five teenage boys in Hastings who formed a band in 1975, which they called Flight. They created one cassette of their music, then fizzled out in the long hot summer of ‘76. Fast forward to 2025 and one of those former long-haired teenagers has reimagined history. Ian has been creating music ever since mid 70s and has recently released solo albums and singles as i-a-n. He also revived an older band called MoltenGrit – heavier early ’70s rock. Now he has revisited the old Flight cassette and re-recorded one track, ‘Legend of a River.’, including original guitar work and some original vocals from fellow band member Nigel Wade. Legend becomes one of nine ‘continuation’ prog and neo-prog tracks on the album ‘Continuum’ BY Flight76. ‘Legend of a River’ is the single from the album. All releases feature paintings & artwork by Nigel Wade.

Ian Wright… We were a bunch of Hastings lads with a rock/prog band 1975-6 that performed one self-promoted gig at the Queens Hotel and broke up?  Featuring Nigel Wade – vocals (and he used to pick up a violin occasionally but never play it)
David Cash – keyboards and 12-string, Paul Tampion – drums, Tim Falla – bass, Ian Wright  – guitar (backing vocals?) In the photo (left to right) it’s Tim, David, Nigel, Ian and Paul. We’re also on Apple, Bandcamp, and all the usual suspect platforms.
The first album release (and the band pages) has some great artwork of Hastings by Nigel Wade (who was the vocalist)

John Wilde… This is a great piece of history.

Alan Esdaile… Anyone remember going to this gig?
